As announced in our last issue (see EUROPE 12150), on Monday 3 December, at the Transport Council meeting, the European Union Transport Ministers endorsed the general approach on three texts relating to maritime and road transport.
These political agreements concern the training of seafarers and the establishment of a European one-stop shop system (see EUROPE 12149), for the maritime transport aspect, and road infrastructure safety management (see EUROPE 12141).
Discussions were rather brief on these different texts, while the sensitive issues related to the first ‘mobility’ package were at the heart of this meeting of Transport Ministers (see other news).
As we went to press, a partial general approach on the Mechanism for Interconnection in Europe was also to be endorsed (see EUROPE 12149).
The progress report on rail passengers' rights and obligations and electronic freight transport information (see EUROPE 12147), the promotion of clean vehicles in the context of public procurement and measures for realisation of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) (see EUROPE 12148) still needed to be validated.
The future Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU will be responsible for leading the work on these last dossiers, in order to reach a political agreement. (Original version in French by Lucas Tripoteau)
