EP temporary committee says China is prepared to cooperate with rich countries but unconvinced about need for quantitative objectives for emerging countries

Brussels, 12/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - Members of the EP temporary committee on climate change went to China last week (EUROPE 9536) in the hope of facilitating the launch of international negotiations at the Bali conference (3-14 December). They returned with mixed feelings. The committee is convinced by China's good intentions (it is already taking measures to fight global warming) but it is, however, aware of the difficulties that have to be overcome if it is going to get emerging...
