13/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - Leonid Minin, a Ukrainian national, has had his request to have his name removed from the annex to Commission regulation (EC) no 1149/2004 thrown out. This annex lists the names of those involved in the regime of former Liberian dictator Charles Taylor, whose assets have to be frozen for the stability of the country. Mr Minin, to whom the regulation attributes around a dozen aliases and passports, put forward several arguments which were all rejected by the Court of First Instance. He may now appeal to the Court of Justice. In any case, appropriate measures will allow him to free the assets at issue to pay the expenses which he was condemned to pay. (cd)
