Experts make suggestions for reducing energy cost and questions are raised concerning State aid to fisheries in difficulty

Brussels, 12/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Directorate General for Fisheries at the European Commission organised a conference in Brussels on 10 and 11 May on new energy-saving technologies for fishing vessels to counter the lasting surge in oil prices. Fisheries' representatives took advantage of the seminar to bombard the Commission with questions on public subsidies that could be obtained to help the fisheries sector overcome the current crisis.
