Commission warns Member States who have yet to transpose directive on status of third-county nationals who are long term residents

Brussels, 20/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 23 January the rules on the status of third-county nationals who are long-term residents in the EU will take effect. Currently, only five Member States, Austria, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia, have informed the Commission of their transposition measures. “It is regrettable that transposition has been so delayed, and the Commission is concerned about the resulting legal uncertainty for third-country nationals,” said Friso Roscam Abbing,...
