GENERAL NEWS / (eu) ep/internal market

20/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - The British delegation of the Socialist group at the European Parliament has appointed Labour member Arlene McCarthy as its candidate for the chairmanship of the committee on the internal market and consumer protection, further to the sad death of President Phillip Whitehead (see EUROPE 9102). The Committee will take position on this application on Tuesday 24 January.
