Commission urges Italy to apply EU rules on free movement of capital

Brussels, 17/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to send a reasoned opinion to Italy to formally ask it to modify its legislation that provides for the exercise of special powers in privatised companies. The Commission is concerned that the criteria for the exercise of special powers do not justify the control of the ownership and management structure of the privatised companies concerned and therefore could constitute unjustified restrictions on the free movement...
