UK Presidency puts Luxembourg Presidency's proposed compromise on reduced VAT rates back on table

Brussels, 10/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - Work on reduced rates of value added tax (VAT) have resumed in the Council. At the end of September, the UK Presidency proposed to the Member States that negotiations be resumed on the basis of the previous proposed compromise of the Luxembourg Presidency (see EUROPE 8947).
