Parliament gives go-ahead to adoption of regulation on access to Community external aid - Untying of aid set to help local suppliers from poorest countries

Strasbourg, 09/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - In Strasbourg on Tuesday, the European Parliament followed the advice of its rapporteur Michael Gahler (EPP-ED, Germany), and approved the decision of the Council to divide the regulation establishing access for suppliers to all development aid programmes paid for by the budget of European Union into two. The adopted resolution calls, amongst other things, for the untying of aid to work to boost the position of local and regional producers of goods...
