Presidency to try to reach agreement with European Parliament by December on holding telecommunications data

Newcastle, 09/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The UK presidency of the EU is to seek to adopt European rules on holding telecommunications data, under certain conditions, in co-decision with the European Parliament by the end of the year, the President in exercise of the JHA Council, Charles Clarke, announced on Friday, after the informal meeting of the JHA Council, which took place in Newcastle on Thursday and Friday.
