09/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of the Ministers of the Council of Europe has short-listed three candidates - Thomas Hammarberg of Sweden, former Secretary General of Amnesty International; Polish lawyer Marek Antoni Nowicki; and Belgian Justice Minister Marc Verwilghen - for the post of Commissioner for Human Rights. The parliamentary assembly will elect the new Commissioner during its autumn session, from 3 to 7 October in Strasbourg. He will take the place of Alvaro Gil-Robles...
