Matthiessen expresses concern for Luftfulla Shamsiddinov

Brussels, 08/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana's Personal Representative for Human Rights, Michael Matthiessen, expressed concern on 8 July at the reported detention of Uzbek human rights defender Luftfulla Shamsiddinov, in Kazakhstan. The arrest of Luftfulla Shamsiddinov is especially worrying because he and his family were granted refugee status by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on 24 June, Mr Matthiessen said.
