Commission to open inquiry next week into textile imports from China - Informal meeting of trade ministers on Sunday evening in Luxembourg

Brussels, 22/04/2005 (Agence Europoe) - Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson announced on Friday that he would next week suggest to the College that it open an investigation into textile imports from China. The inquiry will concern certain categories of textile and clothing products for which the statistics forwarded to the Commission by the Member States' customs services show a surge in Chinese imports since abolition of textile quotas on 1 January. “After making a detailed analysis of the...
