Parliament demands ban on torture and trusts creation of EP/Iran interparliamentary delegation will strengthen dialogue

Strasbourg, 14/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Parliament almost unanimously adopted (104 in favour, 2 against and 5 abstentions) a resolution by six groups (EPP-ED, PES, ALDE, Greens/EFA, GUE/NGL and UEN) denouncing capital punishment in Iran, especially of young delinquents, pregnant women and mentally handicapped persons, on which there are a growing number of reports.
