Embargo on poultry from eight Asian countries extended - lifting of measures against Japan and South Korea

Brussels, 12/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission announced at the end of a meeting of the Standing Committee for the Food Chain and Animal Health that the EU embargo on poultry meat and pet birds from several Asian counties affected by avian flu had been extended till 30 September. The countries are as follows: Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Pakistan, China, Vietnam and Malaysia. Bird flu continues to affect these countries.
