AU calls on EU for additional technical military assistance for Darfur - Jan Pronk calls for strengthened international presence in region

Brussels, 12/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - The African Union (AU) this week called on the European Union to give it additional technical military assistance within the context of its peace-keeping mission in Darfur (AMIS II). The AU also put the same request to other international players including the United Nations, the United States and Canada. The EU is soon to examine this request and is expected to give a positive response.
