Greater flexibility on Bulgarian poultry embargo

Brussels, 12/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Standing Committee for the Food Chain and Animal Health in the EU supported a proposal aimed at introducing greater flexibility to the embargo on Bulgarian poultry imports following an outbreak of Newcastle disease (EUROPE 29 December 2004 p 6). Therefore, only imports of poultry from the Kardjali district (in the south of the country where the virus was detected) remain suspended. These measures apply to the 16 May.
