Brussels, 23/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner for enlargement Günter Verheugen announced on Thursday after a meeting in Brussels with the Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Turkey had fulfilled all the conditions required for beginning accession negotiations and that there were now no obstacles to the Commission producing a positive recommendation in its report on 6 October.
