EU-US Troika focuses on Protection of biometric data - Schengen membership not enough for visa exemption

Brussels, 16/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - Data protection will again be the focus of discussions between the EU and the United States on Saturday 18 September on the occasion of the ministerial troika in The Hague on home affairs and security issues. The United States has just granted the FBI broad access to biometric data - photos and fingerprints taken upon arrival on US soil within the context of the US-VISIT programme.
