Informal Maastrich Council builds bases for concerted action for common flood management and prevention

Brussels, 19/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - Melanie Schultz van Haegen, Secretary of State for Transport and water management in the Netherlands appeared satisfied at the end of the informal Environment Council on Sunday. Ministers had decided to work towards a common approach on flooding in Europe for improving prevention and management in the interest of citizens and the environment. This integrated approach is based on co-operation between Member States and mapping of the affected river basins...
