In Spain, the banking group LA CAIXA has, with 80% of the capital, become the majority shareholder of UNIVERSAL MEDITERRANEA, a complex that manages the theme park PORT AVENTURA. It has acquired the 37% stake owned by NBC, a shareholder of UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, for the sum of EUR 25 million. PORT AVENTURA made a turnover of EUR 108 million in 2003.
