09/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - In a press statement the European Association for the protection of Human Rights (FIDH-AE) is calling on European voters to go and vote in the European elections. "Take a choice, take decision!", asserts the FIDH-AE, pointing out that the legitimacy of the European Parliament "is built on its representativeness and "needs the support of votes". Concerned about polls indicating record abstention rates, the association warns that, "Not voting is risking to reverse this balance to the advantage of national governments" as the EP is a co-legislator on many issue. At the same time, the FIDH-AE recognised that being interested meant being informed.
