Mario Monti and Nicolas Sarkozy continue discussions on Alstom - After Wednesday's meeting, new exchange of views on Thursday

Brussels, 13/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - Discussions with the French finance minister Nicolas Sarkozy and Commissioner for competition Mario Monti on the plan for safeguarding Alstom have been difficult. On Wednesday evening in Brussels, the French minister did not hide this fact following his second meeting with the European Commissioner, when he announced that a third meeting would take place next Monday as "there is still a lot of work to do".
