13/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control, the German Christian Democrat Diemut Theato, has roundly criticised the Council for ignoring the negative opinion returned last week by the European Parliament on the candidacy of the Slovak Julius Molnar to the European Court of Auditors. The Council approved the nomination of Mr Molnar, although the Parliament rejected it by 429 voices against 72 (see EUROPE of 6 May p.8).
