No to Italian peach and nectarine aid

Brussels, 17/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided on Tuesday not to authorise an Italian aid project in favour of producers of peaches and nectarines in Piedmont. The aid of 108,572 EUR was to pay for a withdrawal operation of peaches and nectarines from the market. Italy claimed that the aid was justified by poor climatic conditions.
