Commission temporarily suspends European imports of horses from South Africa

Brussels, 17/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided on Wednesday to suspend the admission, transit and imports of horses from South Africa onto the territory of the Union, until further notice. This temporary decision is to protect the EU from the risk of the propagation of an African horse disease, which is highly contagious and fatal to unvaccinated horses.
