EU/Israel cooperation agreement on Galileo initialled on Wednesday - discussions on financial contributions to follow

Brussels, 17/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The agreement associating Israel to the European Galileo project was initialled on Wednesday by Israel as we announced (EUROPE yesterday p 12). In exchange for financial assistance, Israel and its companies will be involved in the development of this project that aims to provide Europe in 2008 with its own satellite navigation system covering the whole world and which rivals that of the GPS system in the USA.
