Very shocked European leaders condemn Madrid attacks and demonstrate sadness and incomprehension

Brussels, 11/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The very shocked leaders of the European Union and Member States have condemned the terrible attacks in Madrid on Thursday which killed more than 186 and injured 1000, according to the last estimates as we went to press. In Strasbourg, the president of the European Parliament, Pat Cox, opened the session with a minute's silence. In Brussels, a silent demonstration was organised at the heart of the European quarter. European flags were at half mast.
