27/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Council adopted without debate the decision allowing the Community to ratify the 1998 Protocol of the UN Convention on cross-border long distance air pollution by persistent organic pollutants (POPs) (see also p.13). We recall that this protocol aims to restrict the dumping, emissions and loss of 13 of these chemical substances that have harmful effects on human health and the environment.
