Parliament calls for tighter sanctions

Strasbourg, 19/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - Adopting a resolution at its emergency debate in Strasbourg on Thursday, the European Parliament called for strict application of sanctions on Zimbabwe and a stepping up of sanctions on the ZANU (PF) regime. The European Parliament deplored the attitude of some of Zimbabwe's neighbours and called on South Africa to take effective action to try to bring about change in Zimbabwe.
