Parliament condamns assassination of Michael Courtney

Strasbourg, 19/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - Adopting a resolution on the situation in Burundi on Thursday, the European Parliament said it was shocked at the savage assassination of the apostolic nuncio Michael Courtney, killed in an ambush in the Bururi province on 29 December 2003. The EP praised his calm and effective contribution to the peace process and the alleviation of the suffering of the people of Burundi. The prelate originated from Ireland.
