Report by Mr Varela-Suanzes Carpegna calls for measures in favour of Community tuna fishermen

Brussels, 26/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - The report by Daniel Varela-Suanzes-Carpegna (EPP-ED, Spain), which was adopted on Tuesday by the parliamentary Committee on Fisheries, calls upon the European Commission to develop a specific action plan and a "structural support framework" in favour of Community tuna fishermen. The rapporteur also calls for the creation of a "tuna and highly migratory stocks" unit within DG "Fisheries", with sufficient staff and economic means. This report could be...
