British bank, BARCLAYS, is going to be buying up the brokerage firm GERRARD (£ 12.5 bn in externally managed portfolios) to the South African financial services group OLD MUTUAL for £ 210 million. BARCLAYS will merge this activity with the PRIVATE CLIENTS division specialised in wealth management to become the number one in this speciality with a total externally managed portfolios of £21.4 bn.
