Commission grants reprieve of one year to France for bringing its deficit to below 3% GDP - Paris is expected, in exchange, to take additional measures to be regularly assessed

Strasbourg, 21/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday in Strasbourg, the European Commission adopted a recommendation to be discussed then adopted in November by the Council. It calls on France to make the necessary budgetary effort in order to be able to bring its public deficit below the 3% of GDP mark in 2005.
