Infringement proceedings against Belgium as 133 European nationals unable to vote in municipal elections

Brussels, 24/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has sent a reasoned opinion to Belgium, as 133 Community nationals were not able to take part in the municipal elections of October 2000. These nationals of other Member States, residing in the commune of Honnelles, had asked to be registered in time, but the municipal council ruled two days after the deadline for drawing up the lists.
