24/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - According to estimates published by Eurostat on 21 July, the euro zone recorded an external trade surplus of 3.7 billion EUR with the rest of the world in May 2003, compared to +8.8 billion in May 2002. The initial estimates for the balance of extra-European Union (EU15) for the month of May 2003 point to a deficit of 2.7 billion EUR, as opposed to a surplus of 2.5 billion in May 2002.
