27/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The governor of the Bank of Spain, Jaime Caruana, said on Friday that the conditions seemed to be in place for an upturn in the world economy in the second half of the year. He forecast global GDP growth of 3.0% to 3.5% in 2003, slightly higher than the 2002 figures. He expected the improvement to continue into 2004. Caruana added that there was still concern about the global employment situation.
