Access to information on environment guaranteed by EC directive does not allow the name of companies in breach of EU rules to be put on GMO labelling

Luxembourg, 18/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - In vain, an Austrian member of the national parliament, Eva Glawischnig, will have requested the name of companies inspected and penalised for not having correctly labelled their products produced from GMOs. The Fifth Chamber of the Court of Justice presided by Belgian Judge Melchior Wathelet has ruled that the 1990 Directive on the freedom of access to information on the environment does not allow the name of companies guilty of having sold GMO...
