Gymnich Council seeks to clarify role of EU in post-war Iraq, at a time when US coalition is preparing administration of Iraq without UN mandate

Rhodes, 05/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - While the United States had announced its intention to divide Iraq into three administrative areas - one American, one British and one Polish - without the approval of the United Nations, the Foreign Ministers of the 25 current and future EU Member States maintained their call for a central UN role in post-war Iraq.
