Conciliation procedure in sight, after vote in second reading on computerised monitoring of products subject to excise

Strasbourg, 10/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Parliament reintroduced in second reading most of the amendments neglected by the Council, with the adoption, on Tuesday, of the report by Piia-Noora Kauppi (EPP-ED, Finland) on computerised monitoring of products subject to excise. Operational after five years, the complete computerisation of the system for declaring the movements of goods subject to excise will allow the current system of paper forms to be abolished.
