Parliament tones down common position on family reunification by adopting Cerdeira Morterero report (consultation)

Strasbourg, 10/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - In its adoption by 287 votes in favour, 225 against and 9 abstentions of the report by Carmen Cerderia Morterero (Socialist, Portugal), the European Parliament is proposing amendments to make the directive on family reunification much more liberal, if Council accepts them. Nothing could be less certain in a procedure whereby the Parliament was only consulted after the political agreement scraped by the Justice and Home Affairs Council of 28 February...
