9/10 April plenary session - Hearing of local Basque representatives - Debate with Commissioner Diamantopoulou

Brussels, 08/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of the Regions (CoR) has decided that its plenary session of 9 April will start at 15: 00 hrs with a hearing of local and regionally elected Basque councillors. A few weeks ahead of the Spanish municipal elections on 25 May, the EU's local and regional councillors on the CoR have chosen to express their support for their counterparts in the Basque country in "a situation where the exercise of local democracy has been put in jeopardy...
