ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) distribution

Dutch AHOLD intends to sell its South American subsidiaries, namely BOMPRECO (Brazil), G. BARBOSA (Brazil), DISCO (Argentina), SANTA ISABEL (Peru and Paraguay), after having already begun the sale of SANTA ISABEL in Chile. The overall turnover is around EUR 2.75 billion in 2002, 3.8% of the total AHOLD turnover throughout the world.
