08/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a question to the European Commission, Lista Bonino MEP Maurizio Turco has slammed the Vatican's "exploitation of European citizens". Fifty-odd Italian citizens, he said, selling Vatican souvenirs have only a "verbal contract" and work eight to ten hours a day. Despite a pledge to sort out their situation, Vatican sales will soon be outsourced, says Turco, and the workers will lose their rights.
