EP rejects proposed amendment of voting system in Governing Council of European Central Bank

Strasbourg, 13/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - As we had predicted (EUROPE of 12 March, p.9), the European Parliament rejected the European Central Bank (ECB) recommendation on amending the voting system within the ECB's Governing Council, with adoption of the Ingo Friedrich (CSU) report on Thursday. The Parliament confirms the current provisions (all governors of central banks of the euro zone countries have full voting rights and the Governing Council enacts by simple majority of its members)....
