The third largest Italian bank, SANPAOLO IMI, will be launching a take-over bid of 2000 forints per share for the Hungarian INTER-EUROPA BANK in which it already has a 32% stake. If the whole offers goes ahead, the deal could reach an estimated amount of EUR 40 million. the other major shareholders in the Hungarian establishment are SANTANDER CENTRAL HISPANO from Spain (9.99%), the Italian investment company SIMEST (7.75%) and other international financiers.
