26/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has suspended the adoption (by written procedure) of its draft regulation to introduce prison sentences for cases of serious maritime pollution (see EUROPE 6 February p 11). The Commission's legal service will be continuing to check whether this proposal is compatible with international maritime law.
