London, 14/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - Eurosceptic Iain Duncan Smith will take over from William Hague as leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom. He got 61% of the votes in a postal vote, compared with 39% for his rival, Europhile Kenneth Clark. Mr Duncan Smith said that the high turnout (around 275,000 of the party's 300,000 plus members) showed that the Conservative Party was doing well. The Tories' Annual Conference will be held on 8/11 October.
