German chemicals company HENKEL, specialised in household products, has concluded an agreement for the sale of COGNIS (turnover EUR 3.2 billion in 2000 with 9,100 employed), its speciality chemicals unit, to SCHRODER VENTURES and GOLDMAN SACHS CAPITAL PARTNERS. The agreement concluded gives COGNIS a value of EUR 2.6 billion and should take effect at the end of November.
