14/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Young European Federalists (JEF) reacted to the attacks in the United States in a declaration stating: "Peace and security are not ensured forever. Nobody is invulnerable. A world order able to ensure democracy and freedom, justice and prosperity will not fall from heaven. And it will not come from the United States alone. It is time for us Europeans to take our responsibilities (…) A European Federation is the only solution (…), a true European Federation, encompassing progressively the entire European continent. A Federation able to promote - side by side with the United States and the international institutions - a more democratic world with a fairer distribution of resources, power and prosperity. A Federation able to take its share of responsibility in the fight against terrorism, fanaticism and threats to world security"
